What is a Harris Hawk

My bird of prey is a Harris Hawk.

Harris hawks, otherwise known as The Bay Wing Hawk or The Duky Hawk, originate from Central America and in the wild they live in groups. In there local environment they can be seen on cattie or telegraph poles, and because of there ability to hunt in a pack like form, they have been called wolfs of the sky.

They were brought over for falconry purpose's several years ago in the UK and are have successfully been breed in captivity. Harris Hawks are now one of the most commonly flown birds of prey in the UK, as they are very adaptable and have a wide variety of quarry (prey) that appeals to a lot of falconers. These magnificent raptors are very good at working with Humans and with other Harris Hawks, and falconers can use this to there advantage.
